Last week Kar-Ben Publishing launched it's new online eBookstore. This week I want to take a moment to highlight some of the features of the accompanying Kar-Ben eRearder App for iPad. First off, the App is completely free. All you need to do is visit the Apple App Store and search for it by name, or click here to download and install the app.
After your account is set up, you will be able to view the Kar-Ben eBook Shelf. The eBook Shelf contains all of the eBooks you've purchased on the Kar-Ben eBookstore. Clicking on the "Download" button will make the book available to read on your iPad. Please note that download times vary, and it can take several minutes for a book to be downloaded the first time. After you've downloaded it once, however, it will be instantly available until you remove it.
You can browse the books on the eBook Shelf in a number of ways. Subject filters include: Bible, Hanukkah, High Holidays, Holocaust, Isreal, Jewish Identity, Kar-Ben Biographies, and Kar-Ben Favorites. You may also filter the titles by age range, to make sure the book content is age-appropriate for the reader. Finally, you may sort the titles alphabetically. If you know what you're looking for, type the title into the search bar at the top of the window and the book will appear.
Once a book has been downloaded, the "Read" button will appear in the place of the "Download" button. Click "Read" to view the eBook. The books may be viewed in single-page or landscape view, and will rotate to match the orientation of your iPad. You navigate the books using standard touch-screen motions such as swiping from right to left in order to view the next page, or "pinching" the screen to zoom. You may use the buttons at the top of the screen to adjust the brightness, search for keywords, bookmark pages, and navigate via the table of contents.
The Kar-Ben eReader App is a great way to access your favorite Kar-Ben eBooks from anywhere. Parents and Grandparents love it because it's free and easy, and kids love it because it's cool. Check it out!
